Common questions posed by SME business owners:

What is the typical time frame for CDG project?
Upon confirmation of a service provider, you, as the business owner, have to submit the application via SPRING Singapore’s portal for CDG grant. Upon submission, SPRING will take up to 35 working days to approve / reject the proposal.

CDG project will involve research and meeting with your company to set up objectives and KPI (Key Performance Indicators). As such, the project will typically stretch from 3 months to 9 months. At the end of project, the company has to submit an Audit Report and Project Report. The grant will then be disbursed within six to eight weeks via GIRO to your company’s bank account.
What do I have to prepare at end of project to get my grant?

In short, you have to provide:

  • Final Project Report

  • Supporting Receipts, Invoices, Salary, etc
Can I use the CDG to develop a corporate website for my business?
No, CDG cannot be used solely for new web design or revamp. CDG is for businesses to develop strategies to enhance their capabilities, for example: promoting a new service, product, or repositioning to stand out from competitors on the website.
Who should be applying for CDG?
As the name implies, Capabilities Development Grant (CDG) is for business owners who want to enhance and improve one of the 10 Capabilities. The business owners who are applying for the grant are genuinely interested to improve their capabilities, so that they gain a competitive advantage to help their businesses. The grant is not recommended for business owners who are looking for a cash grant to simply buy something for their company.
Can I still apply for PIC after CDG?
The CDG provides up to 70% of the project value. Yes, you can apply for PIC grant for the remaining amount not covered by CDG.
Can I pay the service vendor after the grant is disbursed?
Upon completion of the project, the Auditor will verify that all the work has been delivered and the fees are paid out to the service provider. If the fees are not paid up to the service provider, then the grant will not be disbursed.
Are there any Case Studies which I can check if my project can be supported by CDG?
If your project can help you in terms of enhancing a capability, then chances are it will qualify for CDG. Even if this is something not included in the Case Studies, you will be able to consult us for this application. For quick reference on Case Studies, you may refer to this PDF.
